The Moorpark City Council is now accepting applications for appointment the Moorpark Planning Commission to fill five positions for a two-year term to begin January 2025 and to expire December 31, 2026.

Planning Commission applicants must be a resident of the City of Moorpark, registered to vote in Moorpark and, where possible, have special knowledge in the fields of real property, construction, law, zoning, architecture, or related subjects.  The Planning Commission regular meeting schedule is the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  The Commission considers such matters as the general plan, specific plans, re-zonings, use permits, and subdivisions. The Planning Commission is also the City Council’s advisor on land use planning.  Planning Commissioners receive compensation for their attendance at each meeting of the Commission as approved by resolution of the City Council. 

Applicants will be required to attend a regular City Council meeting to make a brief presentation, in person, scheduled for December 16, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m., on qualifications and interest in the appointment. Remote participation is not permitted. Failure to make a presentation shall result in disqualification for appointment. Use of a PowerPoint presentation will be permitted if the City Clerk has been provided with the file no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Additionally, appointees will be required to complete a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700), and complete two hours of ethics training, two hours of fiscal and financial management training, and two hours of workplace harassment prevention training within six months of appointment. Failure to complete the training courses within the required timeframe will result in removal from the Planning Commission.
