The Moorpark City Council is now accepting applications for appointment to the Moorpark Parks and Recreation Commission to fill five positions for a two-year term to begin January 2027 and to expire December 31, 2028.

Applicants must be a resident of the City of Moorpark and registered to vote in Moorpark.  The Parks and Recreation Commission reviews matters pertaining to the City's parks and public recreation, and advises the City Council on the administration and development of recreational areas, facilities, programs, and improved recreational services. The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. 

All applicants are required to attend a regular City Council meeting to make a brief presentation, in person, scheduled for December 16, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m., on qualifications and interest in the appointment.  Failure to make a presentation shall result in disqualification for appointment. Use of a PowerPoint presentation will be permitted if the City Clerk has been provided with the file no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Additionally, appointees will be required to complete a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700), and complete two hours of ethics training, two hours of fiscal and financial management training, and two hours of workplace harassment prevention training within six months of appointment. Failure to complete the training courses within the required timeframe will result in removal from the Parks and Recreation Commission.
