Moorpark Senior Dial-A-Ride
The city offers a Senior Dial-A-Ride (DAR) service to residents aged 65 and older. This is an origin to destination transportation service. A one-page application must be completed in order to enroll in the program. The rider pays $2.00 each way, and the city subsidizes the rest of the fare.
Operation Information
The service is operated by contract with MV Transit. Applications for senior DAR service are available at City Hall, Moorpark Active Adult Center, online, or by calling 805-517-6240. Senior Dial-A-Ride operates from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays (excluding holidays). Travel to Agoura Hills, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Westlake Village and Oak Park is available 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays (excluding holidays). Transfers to Oxnard/Ventura are also available.
Order a Ride
Once enrolled in the program, call MV Transit operators at 805-375-5467, at least two hours prior to needing the ride, for travel within Moorpark. Call at least a day in advance for travel to other cities. When calling, tell the dispatcher that you are a Moorpark Dial-A-Rider. Wheelchair accessible rides are available, but if you are traveling with a wheelchair, call at least a day in advance to book your ride.
Additional Information
- Fee is $2.00 each way for travel within Moorpark. Fare is $6.00 each way for travel to another City. Exact change is required.
- If you will be waiting for your ride inside a building’s lobby, let the dispatcher know.
- If you have an appointment you need to get to by a set time, let the dispatcher know.
- Please be sure to tell them whether you have a wheelchair or a scooter.
Disabled Paratransit
Moorpark Disabled Paratransit service works just like the Senior Dial-A-Ride with some additional service. It is available to any person qualified with a disability regardless of age. Disabled Paratransit provides origin to destination transportation throughout Moorpark, Agoura Hills, Camarillo, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Oak Park, and Westlake Village. Transfers to Oxnard/Ventura, and LA County are also available.
Enrollment
To qualify, a person must become ADA certified. Fill out the ADA Application which must be completed in order to enroll in the program. Applications are also available at the Active Adult Center, by calling Michelle Woomer at 805-517-6240, or by calling the Ventura County Transportation Commission at 888-667-7001.
Assessment Interview
A representative of the Ventura County Transportation Commission will contact the applicant for an assessment interview. Once approved, the applicant is deemed ADA certified in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
Wheelchair accessible rides are available. If you are traveling with a wheelchair, please call at least a day in advance to book your ride.
Order a Ride
Once enrolled in the program, call MV Transit at 805-375-5467 for a ride. Please call at least one day in advance for travel outside of Moorpark or if you have a wheelchair or scooter. You may call the same day at least two hours in advance of needing the ride for travel inside Moorpark. When calling, please tell the operator the you are a Moorpark ADA rider.
