Naming Contest Graphic

The City of Moorpark's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is excited to invite the community to participate in a naming contest for the soon-to-be-constructed inclusive playground at Tierra Rejada Park. The inclusive playground will be a fun community space that encourages individuals of all abilities to interact and play in a safe and inclusive setting.

Community input helped select a “whimsical” theme for the park, which will feature stylized natural elements including a “tree house” tower, a custom sensory wall, and other “whimsical” elements to delight children and adults alike (see concept art below). This fully inclusive playground will be the only one of its kind in the east county, drawing people from throughout the area and beyond.

The City is looking for a name that will distinguish this unique Moorpark attraction and connect with the community.

Contest Rules:

  • Contestants must be a resident of the City of Moorpark and may be of any age.
  • Entries will be accepted through October 30, 2022.
  • City Council members, Commissioners and/or employees and their immediate family members are ineligible.

Selection Process:

City staff will screen all submissions and forward options to the Parks and Recreation Commission.  The Parks and Recreation Commission will select three options for consideration.  A second survey will be posted asking the community to vote on their preferred choice.  Votes will be compiled and forwarded to the City Council for consideration.  The City Council may consider factors in addition to survey results in making the final playground name selection.  If more than one contestant submits the name chosen, a random drawing of the duplicate entries may be held to determine the winner.

The contest winner will receive 4 free tickets to the City's "Breakfast With Santa" event and an invitation to the ribbon cutting ceremony.
